Dr. Malaya Pimentel-Santos has worked at the intersection of public health, education and research over the past two and half decades. She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines and a Master’s of Public Health & Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. As Associate Dean and Head of the Medical Education Unit of the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-WHQM, she highlights the social determinants and preventive/promotive aspects of health. Current research interests include promoting nontraditional learning outcomes (i.e. professionalism and social accountability), integrating digital strategies in education, and harnessing digital technology, eLearning and mobile tools for disease surveillance and improving health access for marginalized and geographically disadvantaged populations.
