Regional Data Literacy Initiative for the Latin American University Context

by Raidell Avello Martínez, Professor of Educational Technology and Data Analysis. University of Cienfuegos, Cuba

OUTLINE: The availability of data in educational contexts is growing at an increasing rate. Parallel to this growth in data is the awareness that all educational and academic research actors must understand how to use tangible evidence to inform their decisions rather than use anecdotes, intuitions, or personal preferences. It is imperative to create initiatives that promote the development of capacities related to data literacy in the Latin American university sector.

In this session, Raidell will discuss the characteristics of date literacy in Latin American, the generic skills that higher education managers need to possess in this field as well as the challenges that universities face when dealing with data literacy.
