Post-Pandemic Phenomena of Dropping Numbers in In-Take Students

by Putri Swastika, Assistant Professor, Lecturer at Postgraduate Program, IAIN Metro, Indonesia

OUTLINE: The number of university applicants in Indonesia has dropped significantly. According to various reports, some departments have few or even no applicants. The phenomenon is not limited to certain places, like the rural areas or the minor islands, but is also present in top-tier universities, including ours, the Islamic State Institute of Metro. Even popular departments, like English Education, received only one applicant while in the previous years they admitted hundreds of students.
